Economy of Communion |
| |
In 1991, during a trip to Brazil, and as a response to
social inequality, Chiara Lubich launched an innovative economic proposal:
the "Economy of Communion in Freedom" (EOC). This quickly
developed in many countries, currently involving over 800 businesses
worldwide and giving rise to a new economic system. Its guidelines
include sharing part of the businesses’ profits to help those
in need and to foster the growth of the structures and programs of
formation for the spreading of a culture of giving.
