Living City - Overview

A full-color monthly publication, Living City is printed 11 times a year.

It is the magazine of the Focolare (founded by Chiara Lubich in 1943). It offers a view of the world from the angle of unity—that unity that Jesus prayed for to the Father, “May they all be one” (Jn 17:21).

Established in 1963 as the English Edition for North America of Citta’ Nuova, the Italian Focolare magazine, Living City is a registered trademark of the Focolare Movement.

Winner of the 2004 Eileen Egan Award in journalism, Living City is a member of the Catholic Press Association and a participating publisher in the Unified Magazine Program of Paulist Press.

Living City offers articles on the spirituality of communion and the experiences of putting the Gospel into practice in today’s world—in parish and in family life, in the work environment, and in the youth world. It covers developments in interreligious and ecumenical dialogue, and features profiles and interviews with people who are making a difference in the fields of art, economics, science, education, medicine, and cultural life.
