Living City Wins 2007 Catholic Press Award
For a “piece that both educates and provokes discussion,” Living City was awarded the 2007 Catholic Press Award for Best Essay on May 25. The award, in the professional and special interest magazine category, was presented at the Catholic Media Convention, in Brooklyn, New York.
Amy Uelmen’s “Is Conscience King?” published in November 2006, won first place for its research and writing.
From the motivation of the award:
“ Uelmen’s piece is well researched and well written. It tackles a question probably every one of the readers of the piece has had and answers it well. She starts with a premise, makes her arguments well using accessible examples that everyone would know, then ends strongly with her take on the issue.
* The Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada represents over 200 U.S. and Canadian newspapers and nearly 250 magazines, as well as newsletters and foreign-language publications. Total readership of CPA publications is nearly 27 million.
