Ecumenism

Dear Readers,

This New Year’s Day the Church celebrates the 43rd World Day of Peace. May the new year be a decisive one toward achieving peace for all. People whose lives made a difference offer us some guidance:

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi
“If you want peace, work for justice.” Paul VI
“Peace is our gift to each other.” Elie Wiesel
“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
“All works of love are works of peace.” Mother Teresa
“To dialogue is to work toward universal brotherhood on earth.” Chiara Lubich

People who made an impact on their surrounding world, or changed their views and joined others in shaping history are always fascinating.
This issue is devoted to dialogue, with a particular focus on ecumenism.

There are personal testimonies, insights on the Focolare’s “dialogue of life,” ecumenical meetings and celebrations, and a common commitment to justice and the environment.

Just a reminder: January 18-25 is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (geii.org).

Enjoy reading, and let’s pursue the gift of peace together!
