Humanity as one family

Dear Readers,

In February many celebrate Black History Month in the U.S., a time to acknowledge the achievements of one minority and its contributions to the culture and well-being of all.

Recognizing all our African-American brothers and sisters, we are also grateful to those of the most varied ethnicities and religions who have worked and are still working to achieve human rights for everyone.

We know that we all belong to the same human family, and as typically happens in a family, we should be ready to ensure the dignity, respect and love each family member deserves.
“How would it be possible to imagine peace and unity in the world,” as Chiara Lubich wrote, “without a vision of humanity as one family?”

The people we feature in this issue all work toward this goal,
seeing
humanity as one family

They are some of the known and less-known heroes whom we meet at work,
at school, in books, on TV and through the Internet.

Take a moment to read their experiences and insights, enjoy their company, accompany them in their discoveries and find inspiration for your daily life!
